My Inspiration

My inspiration for going back to college is my son.....Gage Lee

I always wanted to be a mom.
When I married my first husband, we tried for 5 years to have a baby with no luck. I gave up on the thought that I was ever going to become a mom and prayed to God to heal my heart and help me move on with my life. 3 months after "giving up" on that thought I found out I was pregnant. I was over the moon excited. At 30 weeks pregnant, I went into labor and had Gage 10 weeks early. Talk about one of the scariest moments of my life. I prayed for this child for so long and now I could lose him. He was born weighing 3 lbs 3 oz.

He had troubles breathing on his own, eating and regulating his temperature. We spent 5 weeks in the NICU. Surprisingly, his doctors were amazed at how well he was doing for being so early. I vowed while he was in the NICU I was going to do everything I had ever planned to do in life to make my son proud of his mom. One of those goals was to go back to college and earn my degree. It took me 10 years to work up the courage to face my fear and do it, but I have no regrets of the amount of time it took me to go back. I went back is what counts and am working on achieving that goal as we speak. When times get hard and I think about giving up, I look at my son and remember why I am doing this. Not only for him but for myself and our family.
